Bond set at $100K for woman accused of shooting nephew-in-law to death

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the man had recently graduated college and had been traveling before coming back to Houston to live with relatives.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The wife of a Harris County justice of the peace has been charged with murder after she allegedly shot and killed her nephew-in-law Thursday night, the Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed to KHOU 11.

The sheriff's office was called to the scene at around 9:20 p.m. This happened on Tesino River Circle, which is near Clay Road and Porter Road in the Katy area.

Mei Huang Wolfe, 48, is accused of shooting and killing her nephew-in-law after a fight broke out. Her bond was set at $100,000. She's due back in court on Monday, April 8.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the man had recently graduated college and had been traveling before coming back to Houston to live with relatives.

"It may have been a situation where the female homeowner felt that he wasn't welcome anymore and a disturbance broke out over that," the sheriff said. "She retrieved a pistol and something happened during the altercation and she fired a shot, striking the nephew."

The sheriff's office also confirmed that Judge Wolfe was at the home when the shooting happened.

The man died at the scene. Gonzalez said the victim was in his early 20s. His name has not been released.

If you have any information about this incident, you're asked to contact the sheriff's office's homicide division at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
