Man shoots, kills aunt, grandmother sexually assaults younger family member: HCSO

Deputies arrested the man early Thursday morning after the girl called police saying he had shot and killed the two women and sexually assaulted her.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday after the Harris County Sheriff's Office said he killed his aunt and an older family member. Another family member, a minor, told police he had sexually assaulted her.

The man, who officials identified as Tyler Langdon, appeared in probable cause court Friday morning where investigators said he had admitted to the killings. He was denied bail.

The sheriff's office said deputies discovered the grandmother shot to death at an abandoned bank on Wortham Boulevard in northwest Harris County. While investigating that scene, the minor called police and said the suspect, who has since been identified as 25-year-old Tyler Langdon, sexually assaulted her and had shot and killed the two women.

When deputies arrived at the second scene on Deep Meadow Boulevard, which is just a few miles away, they discovered a truck that matched the description of a vehicle that was seen leaving the bank.

HCSO said deputies safely recovered the girl, who had told deputies Langdon was in the home sleeping. He was found in the home, along with his aunt who had been shot to death, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators at probable cause court described the moment Langdon surrendered into their custody.

"The defendant exited the home. When he surrendered to officers, he was in possession of a 9-millimeter handgun and a pocket knife. He confessed to killing his grandma by taking her to the bank parking lot, shooting her, then mutilating her," an investigator said

Langdon is facing two capital murder charges. HCSO said they had previously received multiple calls for service at the home relating to the man and that the family did not consider him welcome there.

The girl was taken to a hospital for treatment and was placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
