Scam alert! Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says don't fall for jury duty trick

The scammers are pretending to be with the sheriff's office and contacting residents to pay fines for missing jury duty or a warrant will be issued for their arrest.

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — We have another scam alert to warn you about as crooks continue to find sneaky ways to steal your hard-earned money.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said an ongoing jury duty scam is targeting local residents. 

The scammers are pretending to be with the sheriff's office and contacting residents to pay fines for missing jury duty or threatening taht a warrant will be issued for their arrest. They're also demanding payment for outstanding warrants, ongoing civil matters and other violations.

FBCSO said these crooks are calling from local and non-local phone numbers and they have your information, including full name, address, and possibly other personal details. They are also using the FBCSO address at 1840 Richmond Parkway and FBCSO employee names to convince you they're for real. 

"The Sheriff's Office DOES NOT call anyone requesting money or payment of any kind, for ANY reason!" FBCSO stressed. "If you receive a call from someone stating they are with the FBCSO, we strongly urge you NOT to agree to make a payment, and NEVER give out any personal information, (social security number, driver's license, or date of birth)."
