CONROE, Texas — A man was sentenced Thursday to 35 years in prison for murdering his infant daughter last year, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office says.
Tyrese Dewan Hightower, 20, pleaded guilty to murder and received the 35-year prison sentence as part of a plea agreement.
Prosecutors said the 12-week-old girl died July 23, 2018 of blunt force trauma. She'd been flown to Texas Children's Hospital in The Woodlands earlier that day from Nacogdoches, according to the district attorney's office.
“It is heartbreaking that this beautiful baby’s life was taken so suddenly and senselessly at the hands of her own father," Montgomery County prosecutor Darla Faulkner said in a statement.
"In her short life she brought so much joy to so many people."
