HARRIS COUNTY Detectives conducted a search overnight of the northwest Harris County home belonging to a woman reported missing since just before Halloween.

According to the Harris County Sheriff s Office, the search was conducted at the home of Wende Marshall, 44, in the 11200 block of Fleur Drive.

Marshall has been reported missing since Oct. 30. Neighbors said she has a boyfriend who has been interviewed by HCSO detectives.

Homicide investigators have been at this house processing this residence for evidence and anything we can gather on a missing persons case, said Deputy Thomas Gililand of the Harris County Sheriff s Office.

Some neighbors claim they were told that detectives believe Marshall s body had been burned in the fireplace and buried.

We had excavators last night looking for the remains. We had the medical examiner last night. So they found her, Rosemary Wallace, a neighbor, said.

The Harris County Sheriff s Office will not confirm anything close to that.

There is evidence of recent digging in the yard, but there is no way to tell who did that digging.

I cannot tell you that a murder occurred in this home? No. As of now she is still considered a missing person, Gililand said.

Depending on who you talk to there is different evidence.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, described the thick black smoke she saw on Halloween.

It was a sweet odor. You know that wood they treat for the chimeneas. That is what we have been smelling for a couple days, the neighbor said.

I did get home one day and I thought that it was like a dead animal, Kylie Sutherland, who shares the cul-de-sac, said.

Tricia McKie lives next door and said she s never seen anything strange.

I did see smoke but nothing that I would attribute to out of the ordinary, McKie said.

Joseph Sutton lives behind Marshall s house.

I didn t smell anything different like that at all, Sutton said.

Now the house again is quiet and it is still a mystery.

Anyone with information should call the Sheriff s Office or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
