Former Clements High School teacher arrested on warrant out of Georgia for sex trafficking

The district said former teacher Mason McKie resigned from Fort Bend ISD on Dec. 6.

SUGAR LAND, Texas — Former Clements High School teacher Mason McKie was arrested Wednesday on a warrant out of Georgia for trafficking of a person for sexual servitude, according to the Sugar Land Police Department.

The Fort Bend Independent School District said 29-year-old Mason McKie, of Sugar Land, resigned on Dec. 6.

This is the same school where James Shillingburg was the principal. He was arrested earlier this week on charges of solicitation and promotion of prostitution.

McKie was arrested around 10 a.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop, Sugar Land PD said. He was booked at the Sugar Land Police Department Jail and then transferred to the Fort Bend County Jail, officials said.

Here is the statement from Fort Bend ISD:

"A former Clements High School teacher was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, on a warrant out of the State of Georgia for Trafficking Persons for Sexual Servitude. Law enforcement believes there were no local victims. Due to privacy laws and to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation, the district is unable to share additional information at this time."
