Burglary suspect captured after escaping police custody

Azzeh was found around 4 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 11700 block of Beamer Road.

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas - A burglary suspect who escaped police custody in front of the Harris County Jail Sunday was captured Wednesday near south Houston.

Police say as he was being escorted to the inmate processing area, Khaled Abdelrahman Azzeh, 31, pushed down a police officer and ran from the jail in handcuffs.

Azzeh was found around 4 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 11700 block of Beamer Road.

Azzeh was arrested Saturday when a resident in the 3500 block of Arezzo Circle saw him opening car doors and looking into windows. He ran from police but was eventually caught and charged with evading arrest. He was already out on a $15,000 bond in Harris County for theft at the time of his arrest.

Azzeh now faces evading arrest, a warrant issued for escape and another warrant for retaliation relating to Saturday’s arrest. Investigators say as they were looking into Azzeh’s whereabouts, officers learned he threatened to kill the victim who reported him to police while in the custody of the Friendswood City Jail.

Azzeh remains at the Harris County Jail with no bail set.
