Brazoswood High School teacher charged with sexual misconduct with a minor out on bond

Hargrove was booked into the Brazoria County Jail on Thursday. The jail confirmed that she was released that same day on a $240,000 bond.

CLUTE, Texas — Brazosport ISD (BISD) confirmed to KHOU 11 Friday morning that a Brazoswood High School teacher has been indicted on multiple counts of sexual misconduct.

The district said the teacher, Brandyn Hargrove, was placed on administrative leave when it was notified that she was under investigation in September. Now, BISD said "the district has initiated employment-related actions to separate her employment."

The charges go back to 2007, according to the district, court records and the Clute Police Department, which opened the investigation.

"The victim came forward in September alleging an ongoing relationship with this teacher that began when our victim was a 15-year-old,” Clute PD Chief James Fitch said.

Court records show Hargrove faces 12 charges - six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child, sexual contact and two counts of indecency, exposure.

"At this point, we’re not aware of any other victims,” Fitch said.

He told us the then-15-year-old is now in her 30s and that the alleged crimes occurred off campus. However, the victim was a BHS student at the time. There is no statute of limitation on the charges that have many in the community talking given that Hargrove and her family are well known.

"That’s not good," said one former BHS parent.  "You know, you’re there to learn and then this happens.”

“We don’t need to be passing judgment before we know all the facts," said another resident. "Bottom line.”

"We have been made aware that a Brazoswood High School teacher, Brandyn Hargrove, has been indicted and charged with multiple counts of sexual misconduct of a minor from 2007.  Upon notification of the investigation initiated by an outside agency on September 29, 2023, Brazosport ISD took immediate action and placed the employee on administrative leave to ensure that the employee did not have contact with students.  As a result of these charges, the district has initiated employment-related actions to separate her employment.

"Please know that our responsibility to care for and protect the children entrusted to us is never taken lightly. If any parents, students, or former students have concerns, please contact Brazoswood High School Principal Rita Pintavalle or Brazosport ISD Police Chief, Wade Nichols. Brazosport ISD expects the highest standard of professionalism and integrity from its employees to ensure a safe learning environment."

Hargrove was booked into the Brazoria County Jail on Thursday. The jail confirmed that she was released that same day on a $240,000 bond.

Hargrove's attorney told us he had no formal comment on her behalf at this time.
