HOUSTON – An assistant prosecutor for County Attorney Vince Ryan was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a January 2014 road rage incident.
The jury announced its decision against Susan Sciacca just before 6 p.m. Thursday. Her punishment phase begins 9:30 a.m. Friday.
The victim, Johnny Leazer, told jurors the incident began after he cut off Sciacca o FM 2920 in Tomball, which spurned Sciacca to follow him to a bank parking lot and point a gun at him. Both called 911, but Sciacca said the Leazer followed her into the parking lot and she pulled her gun in self-defense. Prosecutors argued she used her position as a lawyer to try and control the situation.
Sciacca faces jail time, but could be immediately eligible for parole.
She's no longer eligible to practice law.
