Houston Fire Department kicks off annual toy drive

The department said this is one of the largest holiday toy drives in the City of Houston.

HOUSTON — It's the most wonderful time of the year!

As we enter the season of giving, the Houston Fire Department is kicking off its annual toy drive to make sure thousands of families across Houston are prepared for the Christmas holiday.

"Operation Stocking Stuffer" helps the fire department get toys to nearly 10,000 families (up to 30,000 children). The department said this toy drive has become one of the largest in the City of Houston.

How you can help

From now until December 10, you can make online purchases here. The gifts you purchase can be delivered to 1801 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002.

The "Great Toy Giveaway" will happen on Dec. 16. The giveaway will run from 9 a.m. until all toys are gone. The giveaway will be a drive-thru format held at 2000 Reed Road, Houston, Texas

You can also make a donation to "Operation Stocking Stuffer" online or mail your payment to the Houston Fire Department Public Affairs at 1801 Smith Street, 6th floor, Houston, Texas 77002 (Attn: Paul Box).

"Operation Stocking Stuffer" started over 30 years ago when a teacher started distributing toys to kids in need. She approached HFD about it and the rest is history.
