HOUSTON — Houston-area high school students took part in a special competition on Tuesday.

It was a culinary competition for a spot to showcase their food during the college football championship weekend.

The students put their best dishes forward in the Taste of ProStart Houston. Eight different school districts competed to be part of the championship weekend.

They brought their A-game.

They made a diverse array of desserts and appetizers with amazing presentation and flavor.

Judges were made up of professionals and local chefs.

Only four were selected: Milby High School, Pearland ISD, Cleveland ISD and Waller ISD.

If you want to taste the winning dishes, you can check them out on Jan. 7 at the Taste of the Championship where more than 30 Houston-area restaurants will be showcasing their dishes.

The students who didn't win a spot will be able to volunteer with local chefs during the championship weekend.
