HOUSTON — Three HISD curbside summer meals sites will be closed until further notice, the district announced Monday.
The three sites that have closed include R. P. Harris, Nathaniel Q. Henderson and Oates elementary schools.
R. P. Harris and Nathaniel Q. Henderson shut down due to facility issues. Oates Elementary School is closed due to a confirmed COVID-19 case.
The district said the case is not related to HISD Nutrition Services or its curbside summer meals program, but it does impact the availability of the site.
All impacted employees have been notified and instructed to self-quarantine in accordance with public health guidelines.
In addition, the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center located at 4400 W. 18th St. closed Monday at 1 p.m. due to a confirmed case of COVID-19.
The district said the closure will allow time for the support facility to undergo a deep cleaning and sanitization before re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, June 9.
Those who were impacted are being notified and instructed to self-quarantine.
Bastian, Foster, Shearn, Thompson, and Whidby elementary schools remain closed for deep cleaning and sanitization due to a confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus. Those five sites are expected to reopen on Thursday, June 18.
All other scheduled summer meal sites are open.
During the temporary closure, families in need are encouraged to visit one of the district’s 65 other curbside summer meals sites scheduled to be open on Thursday.
