Why Texas Children's Hospital added 77 aquariums to their kid-friendly décor

HOUSTON — A trip to the hospital can be a scary experience, especially for kids. That's why Texas Children's Hospital added 77 aquariums to their kid-friendly décor. Something about colorful fish, plants, and water help to calm patients and visitors of all ages. Great Day Houston Photographer, Frank McBride went out to see how these aquariums provide a welcome distraction. Mike Senske installed and maintains the tanks at Texas Children’s Hospital and believes they are an important part of the experience. Senske recommends people wanting this experience at home seek out an aquarium group that can help support them and avoid mistakes and pitfalls. The Marine Aquarium and Reef Society of Houston, MARSH, is one of those groups and has an event coming up this weekend that can help. Houston’s oldest reef club, MARSH can help you with everything from tank selection, lighting, plumbing, and chemistry to algae and coral problems.
