Houston's Rising Stars: Vortxz ignites the music scene with Latino indie rock

The story of four Pasadena friends coming together and creating a "Vortxz" of music.

HOUSTON — Houston is a melting pot of different cultures, flavors, and sounds. Today, we're adding Latino-indie rock to that mix.

With more than 1.2 million likes on TikTok, Vortxz is making a splash on the music scene, selling out shows across the country and drawing fans from all over to see them perform.

Who exactly is Vortxz? It started with four friends who grew up together in Pasadena, TX. 

The band was founded by Isais “Rambo” Rodarte, who is the lead singer and songwriter. On lead guitar and keys in Noe Rodriguez. Luar Quintanilla is the bass player and Jonathan Lopez is on drums.

Their sound varies from new-wave indie, Rock en Español to alternative rock.

Great Day's Carlos Hernandez caught up with Vortxz before they headed out on their first West Coast tour.
