Funeral Director answers common misconceptions & curiosities about his job

Funeral Director & Embalmer, Clay Dippel, shares how funeral homes help to strike the balance between closure to a loss while celebrating a person's life.

HOUSTON — Funeral Director & Embalmer, Clay Dippel, worked in funeral service while still in high school, helping with visitations and services at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home in Baytown. He went on to study sociology and philosophy at Texas A&M University in College Station. Clay veered off into journalism and ended up getting a job at KHOU 11 as a news producer for several years. While covering the elaborate funerals of Former President George H. W. Bush and Former First Lady Barbara Bush, Clay was inspired to go back to mortuary school. After getting licensed in Texas as a funeral director and embalmer, he joined Bradshaw-Carter Memorial & Funeral Services in August 2018.
