Houston Black Restaurant week is back for its second year, taking the Houston culinary scene by storm.

Hundreds have attended this new series of foodie events that highlight Houston's diversity. This year's total attendance is already in the thousands.

Last week, the series of events had its kick off with a panel discussion featuring industry restaurant franchise owners sharing their knowledge and advice. Frenchy’s and Smoothie King franchise owners made an appearance.

Many who attended the events were interested in learning how to open their own franchise in the Houston area.

On Thursday, a Culinary Showcase was held at the Ensemble Theater consisting of several tasting stations, wine bars, live music, cooking demonstrations and competitions.

The award winners of the culinary competitions for the Nosh event were:

  • Chef Yolanda Henry for Most Creative
  • Chef Travis Dixon for Best Dish (People's Choice)
  • Chef Javani King for Showmanship and Best Bite

“We look forward to partnering with The Blue Triangle Community Center and revitalizing their commercial kitchen." said one of Houston Black Restaurant Weeks Founder’s Warren Luckett. "Our hope is this space can enrich the culinary community throughout Houston and provide and an economic stimulus to the center and participating local businesses."
