Volunteers with the Houston Dynamo, Houston Dash and BBVA Compass delivered toys and vouchers for savings accounts Wednesday to students at Stevens Elementary School.

The holidays for some elementary school students in northwest Houston just got a little brighter.

Volunteers with the Houston Dynamo, Houston Dash and BBVA Compass delivered toys and vouchers for savings accounts Wednesday to students at Stevens Elementary School.

Former Dynamo player Eddie Robinson, Dynamo player Memo Rodriguez and Dash player Kealia Ohai were among the volunteers who distributed toys and read “The Gingerbread Man Story” to the children Wednesday morning. Kids also decorated cookies and hung out with Dynamo mascot Diesel.

The initiative is part of BBVA Compass Foundation’s fifth annual Project Blue Elf, which provides toys to children in low- to moderate-income communities. More than 5,500 students nationwide benefited from this year’s initiative, including the 369 Stevens Elementary School students.
