Flash flood watch in effect for area counties

HOUSTON—A flash flood watch is in effect for Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Walker and Washington counties through 7 a.m. Saturday.
Storms on Friday night caused flooding, and more heavy rain is expected into early Saturday. As some of the storms will move repeatedly over areas that have already seen heavy rain, flash flooding could occur.
Watch for rising water and have a plan of action if you live in a low-lying area or if you’ve already seen high water on Friday night. Avoid driving through high water as you can’t easily judge the depth of the water.
You’ll need to keep your umbrella on standby all weekend. Saturday will begin foggy and wet in the upper 60s, KHOU 11 News Chief Meteorologist Gene Norman said.
“During the day we’ll see changes,” he said. “Storms move in by the middle of the day, and then windier and cooler weather follows.”
Temperatures will fall into the 50s during the afternoon, so get ready to take the sweaters and jackets back out.
The seven-day forecast shows the cooler weather moving in. On Sunday highs will only be in the 50s and there could be a couple of lingering showers as the tail end of the front brings more rain.
