A Trump basher making news around the world ended up in jail Thursday night.
We've learned new information about the arrest of Karen Fonseca and why it came the day after her “F__ k Trump” sticker was publicized.
Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls’ office defended the arrest on Friday.
“The arrest of Karen Fonseca was for an outstanding felony warrant arising out of an investigation conducted by the Rosenberg Police Department,” the FBCSO said in a statement. “The only connection between her arrest and her decision to drive around with an obscenity displayed on her vehicle was the fact that it lead us to her name which in turn revealed the existence of this Felony warrant. Once this connection was made, personnel did their job in a professional and appropriate manner by serving this Felony warrant.”
But, to Fonseca, the timing of her arrest on an outstanding fraud charge is crystal clear.
“Cause people abuse the badge, in my opinion, and money talks,” said Fonseca.
KHOU 11 News got the fraud indictment through the district clerk’s office. It reveals a little more about Fonseca’s alleged crime. She’s accused of using someone’s personal identifying information without their consent.
The alleged victim in that three year-old case out of Rosenberg did not want to talk but confirmed she knows Fonseca.
Now, Fonseca and her husband are not returning phone calls.
According to the clerk’s office, Fonseca’s court date on the fraud charge has not been set.
Her anti-Trump sticker blew up on social media earlier this week thanks to a Facebook post by Nehls.
In the post, he said Fonseca could face disorderly conduct charges, but the Fort Bend County prosecutor later said he had no plans to prosecute her.
