Fiery crash leads to inspection of Fred Hartman Bridge, TxDOT says

The crash happened Monday morning on the northbound lanes, which shut down the bridge for about an hour.

BAYTOWN, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation will inspect the Fred Hartman Bridge after a fiery crash Monday morning.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on the northbound lanes of the bridge. 

Precinct 8 said that two vehicles, a white Chevy Traverse and a box truck, were involved in a crash, which led to the truck catching fire. The driver of the box truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All northbound lanes were shut down for about an hour as crews worked to clear the crash. Precinct 8 said that TxDOT will inspect the bridge's safety after the crash.
