With Hiring of Jimbo Fisher, the Bar is Higher for Texas A&M

Jimbo Fisher won the 2013 national title with Florida State, so with that resume and his new paycheck, he'll be expected to win immediately in the SEC West, particularly with the stadium, facilities and resources available to him at Texas A&M

Texas A&M is set to hire Florida State's Jimbo Fisher to be its new head football coach, after Fisher announced his resignation on Friday afternoon.

A&M will hand Fisher a reported 10 year, $75 million contract, the largest contract in terms of total value ever awarded to a college football coach.

Fisher won the 2013 national title with Florida State, so with that resume and his new paycheck, he'll be expected to win immediately in the SEC West, particularly with the stadium, facilities and resources available to him at Texas A&M.

"When you pay a guy this much money and you get a guy like Jimbo Fisher, you're talking championships or bust," Ben Baby of the Dallas Morning News said. "When you pay $75 million to go get a football coach, you're paying for championships, you're not paying for anything else."

Fisher is expected to land in Aggieland on Sunday, with the A&M Board of Regents set to approve his contract at 9 am Monday, after which he'll be officially introduced by the university.
