Brian Gaine trumpets versatility of new Texans offensive linemen

While the Houston Texans have not made the splashy free agent signing just yet, new GM Brian Gaine is pleased with the work he and the Texans front office have accomplished so far. Gaine is especially happy with the versatility the three newcomers on the offensive line bring to a team with multiple job openings up front.

In signing Zach Fulton, Seantrel Henderson and Senio Kelemete, the Texans added three players who have all started at multiple positions in their NFL careers.

“One thing we wanted to do is add versatility and position flex to any offensive lineman that we would bring in to the Houston Texans,” Gaine stated at his press conference introducing the free agent signees. “What we want to do at the offensive line, we wanted to get bigger, longer and stronger. We feel like we’ve done that.”

On Fulton, a former Chiefs starter,

“Highly productive player at any of the three positions inside.” Fulton will be expected to start right away, likely at left guard.

Signing Henderson “makes us bigger, longer and stronger,” at tackle, with the ability to start at either right or left tackle.

Similarly, Kelemete “makes us stronger on the interior as well. As well as very athletic.”

It’s worth noting the Texans signed all three for less total money in 2018 than the New York Giants will pay tackle Nate Solder, who was a reported Texans target and heavily coveted by much of the fan base.
