HOUSTON — A woman died in a house fire Friday night in the Second Ward.
The fire broke out around 7 p.m. Friday in the 3400 block of Harrisburg Blvd.
Homicide investigators said the woman's friend went to her home to check on her and that's when she noticed the fire. She immediately called 911.
The Houston Fire Department put out the fire and found the woman's body on the second floor.
The cause is being investigated.
Sgt. William Dunn said he believes she was the only person in the house.
He also said there is no concrete evidence of any suspicious activity.
