The shelter in place was lifted at approximately 10:20 a.m.

School officials at C.E. King High School have lifted a shelter in place after the campus was locked down following a threat on social media.

School officials said they checked students bags and lockers and did not find anything suspicious. As a precaution, all outside activities were limited for the day.

Sheldon ISD posted the following update message on Facebook late Thursday morning:

The shelter in place was lifted at approximately 10:20 a.m.

Late Thursday, district officials said C. E. King High School "continues to be the target of ongoing threats that have now reached into the Friday school day." Authorities believe the same person is making the threats.

"Sheldon ISD’s policy is that it takes all threats seriously. Therefore, additional compliance checks will be conducted tomorrow at both C. E. King High School as well as C. E. King Middle School," district officials said in a statement. "Although no threats were made at KMS, administrators still wanted to conduct a compliance check there because of the proximately of the two campuses."

Officials are urging anyone with information on this case to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at (713)-222-TIPS.
