HPD, Special Olympics team up for 5K honoring fallen officers

Officer Marco Zarate of the Bellaire Police Department and Sgt. Paul Weido of the Houston Police Department will be honored for their brave service the community and for their tireless work in support of Special Olympics athletes in the Houston area.

HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department and Special Olympics Houston is teaming up for a great event coming up in March. 

The Five-O 5K for Special Olympics benefits the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Texas and Special Olympics Texas.

This year, the event is extra special for organizers as they are set to honor two of their fallen brothers. Officer Marco Zarate of the Bellaire Police Department and Sgt. Paul Weido of the Houston Police Department will be honored for their brave service the community and for their tireless work in support of Special Olympics athletes in the Houston area.

The 5K will take place on March 9 at Stude Park in Houston. Runners of all levels are invited to compete or run for fun.
