LISTEN: Construction crane topples over, rattles Midtown residents

Residents who heard the incident said it sounded like a bunch of pipes falling as the crane toppled over and crashed.

HOUSTON — A crane fell over late Monday afternoon at an apartment construction site in Houston's Midtown neighborhood.

Residents who heard the incident said it sounded like a bunch of pipes falling as the crane toppled over and crashed into the construction site and some scaffolding.

One neighbor's security camera captured audio of the incident. You can hear items falling and a person briefly yelling.

Three other cranes arrived at the location at the intersection of Albany and Drew streets in order to help with the situation. The crane was upright again in the overnight hours.

There's no confirmation injuries, if any. A resident posted on Nextdoor that no ambulances were called, and a worker at the site said everyone appeared to be okay but they were doing a headcount to make sure.
