A group of friends has outdone themselves this year with their Lights in the Heights display.

The friends pride themselves on their over-the-top decorations every year, but this year had special meaning. One member, Ronnie Kirschner, lost his home in Hurricane Harvey. Kirschner, his wife Beth and their two dogs had to use a paddle board to escape their flooded Timbergrove neighborhood. Friends rescued them a few blocks away.

Even though they’re still recovering, Kirschner wasn’t about to miss out on joining his buddies to create their annual display. They spent long hours and many late nights but, as you can see, it was worth it!

Lights in the Heights takes place Saturday, December 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It’s open to the public and there’s no charge.
