HOUSTON — Today will feature gorgeous weather with less wind, tons of sunshine, and brisk temperatures. Most of the area will top out in the upper 50s to low 60s this afternoon. Another cold night is on the way, with lows dropping to the 30s and 40s in Harris County. Patchy frost is possible again for areas north and west as temperatures dip near or below freezing.
Rain returns to the forecast again by Saturday as a front approaches the area. This system will stay to our north, meaning temperatures won't drop behind it, but showers and storms will be possible for parts of the area on Saturday.
After that, expect mainly cloudy skies with a stray shower chance on Sunday. Temperatures continue to warm into the mid and upper 70s for Sunday and Monday ahead of our second rain maker. That is a cold front that will bring showers and storms to the area Monday, leading to cooler temperatures for the middle of next week.
Drought report
The wet pattern we've had has done wonders for our drought monitor. This week Southeast Texas has come down from a severe drought to a moderate drought. The rain this weekend will continue to help offset the 35 dry days we had at the end of September into all of October. Reports are issued weekly, and the next update will be released Thursday.
