Houston Weather Blog: Looking Forward To The Weekend

Yup- on a Monday morning I am already looking forward to the weekend. I mean I am always excited for the weekend.. .but you will be too once you see the forecast!

Not all the time in OCTOBER are we talking about rain that will be impacting the city of Houston... and most of Texas because of a Hurricane... from the PACIFIC! Considering what an active hurricane season it has been for the Pacific basin this really doesn't surprise me. Powerful Hurricane Willa is expected to make landfall late this evening and because of the position of the jet stream it will send a surge of moisture across the state of Texas. And some of the rain will be heavy Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday we could be picking up 1-3 inches of rain across the area with isolated amounts higher. When you get sick of that rain.. think of Willa.

Before the rain kicks in you will need a jacket. Probably a big coat for the little ones. It is chilly out there. Widespread 50's this morning. Pushing 70 this afternoon but will feel cooler than that due to the clouds, north wind, and the chance for showers.

With the rain expected Tuesday and Wednesday you will be ready for sunshine. And just like that it should emerge by Thursday afternoon and set the stage for picture perfect conditions Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Yes, bring it on sunshine- sunshine! Set the plans outside! Low humidity and high pressure in control. Doesn't get much better than that for this time of the year. Because of the clear skies we will cool down quickly overnight and warm up nicely. So best of both worlds right?! We just have to get through a couple rain, gloomy days before hand.
