HOUSTON — The Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, says Thursday is anticipated to be one of the busiest travel days of the season.
TSA lines at Hobby Airport remained steady throughout the day. Travelers told KHOU 11 News they came prepared.
Guadalupe Lopez of Spring Branch arrived 5 hours early for her flight.
"A lot of people were saying the flights weren’t leaving because the lines were too long, so we wanted to be ahead of time,” she said.
Brett Aglasby said he packed an extra dose of patience.
“Yes, I came here extra early because I didn't want to get in a long line," he said. "I heard travel is up since COVID, kind of picking back up. I didn’t know what to expect.
TSA says the days leading up to Christmas are expected to be the busiest holiday travel days for both national and local flights. The prediction comes as the agency recorded its highest passenger volume since the pandemic over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The increased travel numbers have many keeping safety at top of mind.
“We have our shots, our booster our everything - so we're ready our mask, sanitizer – everything,” said Lopez.
She says she’s taking the right precautions to make it home for the holiday. "I don’t have concerns. I know that as long as I keep my safety, I’m helping everyone else too."
