What construction project should the Houston-area tackle next?

Residents are encouraged to weigh-in on nearly 200 proposals.

HOUSTON — Fixing Houston traffic usually means adding more construction and now people in the Houston area are being invited to add input on the next projects.

The Houston Galveston-Area Council recently released a ranking of nearly 200 roadwork proposals. The council is tasked with dividing up $920 million in federal, state, and local funding over the next ten years.

The council has already ranked the projects based on accessibility, environmental factors and more, but the ranking is not final.

Public opinion will play a major role in the decision-making process, officials say.

The first of several public hearings is Thursday, Jan. 24 in Friendswood. Residents can also weigh in online, by phone or mail until Feb. 28. Click here for details.
