HOUSTON – A suspect accused in a robbery and carjacking led police on a high-speed chase before crashing into innocent drivers in southeast Houston on Friday morning.
Air 11 was overhead as the suspect led officers on a chase in a silver sedan shortly after 9 a.m.
Police in the City of South Houston followed the suspect onto Dixie Farm Road before he crashed at Highway 3/Old Galveston Road. Houston Police also assisted in the pursuit.
At least two innocent drivers were struck at the end of the pursuit. They injuries were not life-threatening.
But the innocent drivers were pretty shaken up after the crash. KHOU 11 spoke to one of them who was driving the minivan that was hit in the incident.
“Heard sirens and like I said, it happened too quick,” the victim said. “Once he hit me, I realized it was a police chase."
He also said his vehicle is only 3 months old. "...yeah I'm frustrated, I don't blame the police for it, I blame the criminals." he said.
Views from Air 11 showed the suspect put up a fight even after he was pulled from the wreckage.
Police also said they recovered several guns from the stolen car after the suspect was taken into custody.
