CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 21-year-old male was arrested by Corpus Christi police after walking away from the scene of a rollover accident Sunday afternoon at the intersection of 5th Street and Morgan Avenue.
Police said 21-year-old Rene Garza is facing charges of escape from custody, resisting arrest and evading arrest.
It was Sunday afternoon when police said a red sedan was struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The impact caused the red sedan to roll over multiple times before coming to a stop with two people trapped inside. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to free the trapped passengers.
Police said Garza, the driver of the red sedan, left the scene of the crash on foot and attempted to hide in a nearby neighborhood. He was described as wearing red pants and an ugly Christmas sweater.
Police managed to find Garza and arrest him shortly after the accident.
