Messy commute as more rain moves in; 288 reopened after crash

More heavy downpours are moving into the Houston area for your lunch hour today. Highway 288 is a wet mess with all lanes shut down northbound due to a wreck.

HOUSTON -- South Freeway 288 has reopened after all northbound lanes were shut down at the 610 South Loop following a crash Monday morning.

Freeway cameras showed a concrete mixer truck overturned in the mainlanes near Holmes Road. All northbound lanes were shut down just before 9 a.m.

There are no confirmed reports of injuries or deaths at this time.

KHOU 11 Meteorologist Chita Craft says downpours will continue to move northward from the Gulf throughout the day. Heavy rain is likely across much of Houston, especially during the lunch hour and early afternoon.

A chance for scattered rain continues this evening as well.

Starting tomorrow the rain chance decreases, although showers are still possible. Temperatures will increase into the low-90s.
