HOUSTON — The new year is well underway, which means big traffic closures will resume as major roadwork continues in the Houston area.
The biggest closures scheduled over the next two weeks will impact 288/518 in Pearland, drivers on I-45 northbound near downtown and on I-45 in Montgomery County.

FM-518 in Pearland this weekend | Total closure in both directions
Northbound and southbound at FM-518/Broadway in Pearland | Total Closure | Closed overnight from 9:00 PM, Friday, January 11 to 9:00 AM, Saturday, January 12 | Traffic will be detoured via the frontage road.
FM-518 in Pearland/Brazoria County this weekend | Total closure in both directions
Eastbound and westbound from Smith Ranch Rd/ CR 94 to SH-288 | Total Closure | Closed continuously from 9:00 PM, Friday, January 11 to 5:00 AM, Monday, January 14. Follow signs for detour.
I-45 in Montgomery County this weekend | Total closure northbound
UPDATE: Crews have completed work on I-45 northbound lanes at Rayford/Sawdust Road.
The northbound lanes are now open, while two southbound lanes remain closed.
PREVIOUS: Northbound at RAYFORD RD/SAWDUST RD in The Woodlands| Total Closure | Closed continuously from 9:00 PM, Friday, January 11 to 5:00 AM, Monday, January 14 | Traffic will be forced off of I-45 at the Rayford/Sawdust exit and will be able to re-enter the freeway just north of Rayford/Sawdust.
I-45 northbound exit to 288/Southwest Freeway southbound | Closed starting next weekend
Near downtown/UH area. Freeway signs are alerting drivers that the left-hand flyover exit ramp from I-45 Gulf Freeway heading northbound to 288/59/SW Freeway southbound will close at 9 p.m. Friday, January 18. It will be closed until further notice as crews finish building the new one that is located on the right side of I-45.
All planned closures are subject to weather conditions.
