HOUSTON – The Texas Department of Transportation is warning drivers to pack their patience or avoid Highway 290 near Beltway 8 in the overnight hours for the rest of the week.

Three weeks of weekend rain delays is forcing construction crews to carry out overnight road work during the week. This means all lanes will be closed starting at 8 p.m. nightly. There will also be closures on the connecting ramps from Beltway 8.

That is, if rain doesn't impact the work again.

“These closures are necessary to allow the contractor to open the US 290 westbound mainlanes from Pinemont to W. Little York in their final configuration, providing five mainlanes between I-610 and W. Little York,” stated TXDoT.

Work gets underway first on the westbound lanes starting Tuesday night. The eastbound lanes will also be impacted starting Wednesday night.
