HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 12-year-old boy who was hurt Thursday when his family's SUV was struck by a car on Highway 249 has died.
The child was rushed to Houston Northwest Hospital in serious condition where he later died.
All southbound lanes of Highway 249 were closed at Mills Road for nearly four hours.
It was shortly before midnight Thursday when a 35-year-old woman was driving with her 12-year-old and 3-year-old on 249, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
When they reached an overpass, the vehicle became disabled. The mom pulled to the side of the road and put her flashers on.
Two women in an Infiniti car struck the SUV. The mom and younger child were not seriously hurt. The two women in the Infiniti car were taken to the hospital to get checked out.
HCSO says the investigation into the incident is still underway.
No charges have been filed at this time.
