Rice University students develop pain-free shots

They even all agreed on a name - "Comfortably Numb".

HOUSTON - Rice University underclassmen set out to tackle a real-world problem and make a difference.

Their motivation was to create a device that would numb the skin immediately before an injection.

It's clear the product is already effective after winning an "Excellence in Freshman Engineering" award but the prize still seems to be in it's potential.

These students have filed for a "provisional patent" and they're hoping to cash in by selling it to a large medical device company or retaining ownership and taking it to market themselves.

They even all agreed on a name - "Comfortably Numb".
