Rare heart procedure helps 8-year-old baseball player

Ethan Page was born with three holes in his heart, two of which closed over time, but the third was causing him to have shortness of breathe while he played the game he loved so much.

Medical miracles happen almost every day in this city. Ethan Page is a perfect example.

The 8-year-old loves baseball. He’s been playing it since he was 3.

He was born with three holes in his heart, two of which closed over time, but the third was causing him to have shortness of breathe while he played the game he loved so much.

Ethan’s parents were told he would need open heart surgery to close the hole, but instead of going the traditional route with the traditional surgery, they elected for a procedure that only a handful of doctors are performing in the U.S. Luckily for them, the one pioneering this new form of surgery is right here in Houston.

Now, Ethan is back on the field playing the game he wants to play the rest of his life.
