J.J. Watt visits Harvey victims, Houston Food Bank

Watt posted Thursday about his visits to homes being rebuilt by the St. Bernard Project and to the Houston Food Bank.

Houston Texans star J.J. Watt saw first-hand Thursday how $30 million raised through his Hurricane Harvey relief fund is being put to use in the community.

Watt posted Thursday about his visits to the Houston Food Bank and to homes being rebuilt in partnership with SBP.

“The people and their stories were both heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time,” Watt posted on Facebook and Instagram. “Each of these families went through so much devastation and heartbreak, yet remain so positive and energetic, it was truly inspiring to spend time with them today.”

Watt announced last month he and his foundation would work with four non-profits to distribute $30 million of the $37 million raised for Harvey relief efforts. The remaining $7 million “will be set aside for distribution in 2018 as we continue to assess and analyze the evolving relief efforts," he said.
