HOUSTON – Many people are excited the Astros are finally back at Minute Maid Park now that the 2016 season has begun.

However, fans are not happy about the price of parking around the ballpark.

Mayor Sylvester Turner addressed the issue Wednesday morning and said he understands the frustration, admitting he once paid $50 to park near the ballpark.

Turner proposed working with METRO so people can park farther away to take shuttles and other public transportation to the game.

“If people recognize that we are making more options available for people to park, not necessarily downtown – it can be somewhere outside of downtown – those prices will start to fall,” Turner said.

He also suggested working with business downtown to offer more places to park during games.
