Weather Blog: Freezing temperatures out the door this morning

While it will be very cold, we are not expecting any ice or hazardous conditions for your morning commute.

Except for those along the coastline and near Galveston Bay, everyone in Houston and southeast Texas should expect freezing temperatures early this morning.

That bright blue line on the low temperature forecast map at the top will reach deep into our southern counties. Even places that normally miss freezing temperatures like Angleton and Alvin are expected to drop below 32 degrees.

Then there's the wind, and the wind chill forecast for Wednesday morning (below). Readings in the teens in Sugar Land and Tomball are brutally cold for we here on the Texas coast. A calm morning with temps in the upper 20's is much easier to take. That north wind at 15-20 cutting through your coat and across exposed skin will make things dangerously cold.

So bundle up (below) and bring in the tender tropical and citrus plants and cover other landscaping you want to protect. We're expecting another similar freeze on Thursday morning as well.
