Suspect threatens to shoot off-duty Harris County deputy, HCSO says

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says they are not releasing a name or description but say they are certain they know exactly who they are looking for.

HOUSTON — Deputies were searching for a man who they say threatened an off-duty sheriff's deputy at gunpoint overnight.

This happened 10 p.m. Sunday on Corpus Christi Street in east Houston.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says they are not releasing a name or description but say they are certain they know exactly who the suspect is.

The sheriff’s office says the off-duty deputy was driving his personal car on Corpus Christi Road when a woman on a bicycle began screaming at him. The deputy pulled over to see what was wrong not aware of the tense moments that would follow.

In the process of speaking with the woman, a man creeped out of the shadows, pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot the deputy, investigators said.

The deputy says he tried to explain he was only trying to help. That led to the trio arguing.

The armed man held the deputy at gunpoint, and then forced him back into his car. The suspect then ran to a nearby home.

The deputy then called 911. A large number of deputies and a K-9 unit responded to try and catch the suspect.

The sheriff’s office says they will try to file aggravated assault charges against the suspect.
