SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — "Tarzan" actor Ron Ely's wife was stabbed to death by their son, who was later fatally shot by deputies, according to Southern California authorities. 

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Wednesday that Valerie Lundeen Ely, 62, was found dead inside their home with multiple stab wounds. They say the suspect, the couple's 30-year-old son Cameron Ely, was then fatally shot by deputies who went to the home for a 911 call.

Ron Ely, star of the 1960's "Tarzan" was not hurt, NBC News reports, citing a sheriff's office spokesperson.

KEYT reports deputies were responding to reports of a family disturbance when they found Valerie Lundeen Ely, who was the victim of an apparent homicide. 

As deputies searched the property, they found Cameron Ely outside, who the sheriff's office said was posing a threat.

Four deputies opened fire, killing the 30-year-old, authorities said Wednesday.  

A news crew reportedly heard over a dozen shots fired. The sheriff's office said no deputies were hurt.
