SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Missouri man is accused of having unprotected sex with a woman without telling her he was HIV positive – and later trying to pay her to not speak to police.
The Springfield News-Leader reports Marcus Price, 36, is charged with two felonies - tampering with a witness and recklessly infecting another person with HIV.
If convicted he could face a life sentence in prison.
Court documents show he has been HIV positive for at least nine years. The woman he allegedly had sex with was later hospitalized after learning she was also HIV positive.
After police started investigating, Price allegedly offered to pay the woman money from another legal settlement if she would stay silent about the crime.
Price is being held in the Greene County Jail on $50,000 bond.
