Minnesota woman's obituary takes a turn: 'World is a better place without her'

Well that escalated quickly.

The beginning of 80-year-old Kathleen Dehmlow's obituary is pretty standard.

It states when she was born, who her parents were, the name of her husband, children, etc.

But it's sentence four that takes a turn, an awkward, cringe-worthy turn. It reads: "She abandoned her children, Gina and Jay who were then raised by her parents in Clements, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schunk."

Dehmlow's obituary states she was from Springfield, Minnesota. The ode was published in the Redwood Falls Gazette in Redwood Falls on Monday.

It's final two sentences are devastating.

"She passed away on May 31, 2018 in Springfield and will now face judgement," the obituary ends. "She will not be missed by Gina and Jay, and they understand that this world is a better place without her."

The beginning of 80-year-old Kathleen Dehmlow's obituary is pretty standard, but then it takes an abrupt turn.

Dehmlow isn't the first to skewered in her obituary. A family confirmed "evil does in fact die" in writing an obituary for a Texas man in 2017.

Despite the ending, people had kind things to say about Dehmlow online.

"The good Lord loves you more than anyone else ever could. You are in Heaven now with your Savior. R.I.P.," wrote Linda Mann in the comments section of the obituary. "What a life she lived. Hope you find peace," wrote another commenter.
