Popular website Reddit, known as "the front page of the internet," was down early Thursday for unknown reasons.

Net outage tracking site DownDetector.com reported an outage at 7:09 a.m. ET Thursday and noted that Reddit had outages each of the previous five days, too.

Users of Reddit headed to Twitter to voice their concerns early in the day and described the quandary the situation left them in.

"Reddit is down, so I closed Reddit and went to find something to do, so I opened Reddit to help me get an idea of what to do. But it was down," one person humorously posted. "So I closed it and when to find something to do. So I went to look that up on Reddit- but Reddit was down."

"IT'S STILL DOWN," posted another.

Apparently the outage occurred in the eastern United States, as well as in some of the U.K. and Europe, based on a DownDetector map.

Some users noted they could get back onto the site before 8 a.m. ET, and access appeared to be stabilizing by about 8:30 when DownDetector changed its status on the incident to "Possible Problems at Reddit."
