Man found fatally shot on Highway 6 after possible road rage incident ID'd

Deputies said the man was found lying in the middle of the road near a pickup truck.

HOUSTON — UPDATE: Harris County officials have identified the victim of a deadly shooting on Highway 6 early Tuesday as 32-year-old Aaron Thomas Miller.

Sheriff's deputies found Miller shot to death in the 8300 block of Highway 6 North in the Copperfield area.

Deputies said they believe Miller was "involved in an altercation with another motorist."

Deputies described possible vehicles of interest "witnessed leaving the scene" as being a white or light-colored Dodge Charger or a black sedan.  

PREVIOUSLY: The sheriff’s office is investigating a deadly shooting along Highway 6 in the Copperfield area early Tuesday.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the highway near Forest Trails at about 12:05 a.m. They said the victim, an adult male, was found lying in the southbound lanes near a pickup truck.

Cy-Fair FD crews arrived to find deputies had started CPR on the victim who had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Cy-Fair EMS in critical condition.

The man was pronounced dead a short time later. Deputies have not released his identity.

A motive for the shooting has not been confirmed, but deputies said there was an altercation in the roadway – and it could be road rage related.

Witnesses have given different descriptions of the shooter’s vehicle.
