HOUSTON — A man has been arrested in the death of his father after the two got into a fight in the Third Ward earlier this month.
Cedric Hardin-Jones, 22, has been charged with aggravated assault in the death of his father, David Jones, 62.
Police say the two got into an argument on January 2 at a home in the 3700 block of Burkett Street.
Cedric told family members he and his dad were in a fight and he punched his father, causing him to fall down.
David was taken to Methodist Hospital with severe head trauma. He stayed in the hospital for weeks and passed away on Tuesday, January 29.
Cedric was arrested on Thursday, January 31 by the HPD Clear Lake Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team. Officers found him to be in possession of a loaded AR-15 assault rifle.
Charges may be upgraded pending David's cause of death. That will be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
