Former Atlanta Braves outfielder Otis Nixon found safe

One of the most famous Atlanta Braves went missing for a short time over the weekend.

ATLANTA -- Authorities in Woodstock said a former Atlanta Brave who left for a golf outing but never arrived has been found said.

The Woodstock Police Department said 58-year-old Otis Nixon had last seen leaving his residence on Saturday morning in a gray 2011 Range Rover.

According to a police report, Fannie Thomas, Nixon's girlfriend originally called in the missing person report and said Nixon missed a tee-time with his fellow golfers the day after he went missing which "is not like him to ever miss a tee time."

Thomas went on to say that she had checked in with several jails and hospitals in the area to see if Nixon was at any of those facilities. She even checked with some of friends he socialized with on a regular basis, but had no luck.

The Associated Press reports that the speedy outfielder collected more than 600 stolen bases in 17 seasons from 1983 to 1999 across several teams including the Atlanta Braves. In more recent years, however, he has made headlines for run-ins with the law, including a 2013 arrest for possession of crack cocaine and a crack pipe.

Thousands shared photos of Nixon during his disappearance, including his former teammate Chipper Jones.

Other than stating Nixon had been found Monday afternoon, Woodstock police shared little details about where he had been.
